Devon McCauley

Devon was tasked with assisting my onboarding as I began my first professional role outside of college. I could not think of a better person to help start my professional career.

He has a unique combination of curiosity and drive that allows him to pick up new skills quickly and also to possess the ability to take complex information and break it down into digestible/actionable steps. He helped me learn a lot throughout my time working with him, but I was also able to observe him work with others and adjust his teaching style to instill both business and technical knowledge.

When Devon told me he was switching to an HR role, I thought it was the perfect career move. His ability to work well with all personality types, his strong attention to detail, and his ability to stay organized in chaotic situations set him up for a long and successful career. Any team would be lucky to add Devon, and I would gladly work with him again given the opportunity.

Devon was one of the most proactive people I had the pleasure of working with at eDOC. It was clear to me early on that he would make a great project manager—even as a software developer, he always had other people's interests in mind when discussing plans and never lost sight of the bigger picture. As he moved into the project manager role, the improvements and fixes he made to our existing infrastructure had a lasting impact that we still feel today. I wish Devon all the best in his future endeavors—any team he joins will be better for having him!

While reflecting on my experience working with Devon, a passage from the book Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson comes to mind:

“From his father, Jobs had learned that a hallmark of passionate craftsmanship is making sure that even the aspects that remain hidden are done beautifully. A great carpenter isn't going to use poor wood for the back of a cabinet, even though nobody will see it.”

That idea captures Devon's approach to his work.

For most of the time I worked with him, Devon served as Lead Software Developer. His commitment to quality was evident in everything he did. At the same time, he brings a strong sense of practicality. He understands where perfection adds value and where to focus effort to deliver the best possible product without losing momentum.

Before leaving eDOC Innovations, Devon stepped into a Project Manager role that fit his strengths and personality extremely well. Even the most talented developers cannot succeed without structure and alignment. Devon introduced thoughtful processes that improved efficiency, accountability, and team coordination. He took the time to consider both the benefits and the potential challenges of each change, and the improvements were clear.

Just as important, Devon is a kind, humble, and genuinely supportive person. Over four years of working together, I came to consider him not only a trusted colleague but also a friend. He is someone I have stayed in touch with after his departure, which says a lot about the kind of teammate he is.

One thing to know about Devon is that he thrives on growth and challenge. He is motivated by learning, improving, and building better systems. In the right environment, this drive becomes a major strength that fuels innovation and continuous improvement.

It was a pleasure working with Devon, and I truly hope our professional paths cross again. I am confident that wherever he goes, he will bring the same care, craftsmanship, and attention to detail that made such a positive impact on our team.

I worked with Devon at eDoc Innovations, where he wore two hats as a developer and project manager. Bottom line: he was reliable, adaptable, and always got things done the right way.

Devon is creative and quick on his feet when things change, but he's also efficient and organized. He pays attention to process, documentation, and compliance, and he doesn't cut corners. If something needed to be done cleanly and correctly, Devon was the guy.

He also communicates well and works great across teams, which is honestly a big part of why he'll do well in HR. He understands policy, he's consistent, and he's the kind of person you can trust with sensitive, high-visibility work.
